Icy Network News

Third-Party registrations are now disabled.

Published by Diamond at Thu Aug 08 2019 15:14:26 GMT+0200 (Central European Summer Time)

In order to better future-proof Icy Network services, we have decided now that we're going to disallow the creation of accounts on Icy Network via third-party services, such as Google.

This change will not affect already created accounts: you will still be able to log in if you previously created your account via a third-party.

We recommend all of our users, who registered via a third-party, to create a password now. You can do that by going to your settings, or by clicking here. In order to better secure your account, be sure to use a password manager and never re-use your passwords. Another way to secure your account is by enabling Two-Factor Authentication.

Thank you.

Icy Network is currently inactive.

Hello there.

I'm letting you all know that Icy Network is currently inactive for an indefinite amount of time. You may also have noticed that we do not run a Minecraft server anymore. The Minecraft server was shut down due to the very small amount of activity and Diamond's lack of interest in the game.

The progress on Episodes.Community has also been seized and may not resume for a while.

The only thing that IcyNet is used for right now is login services and thats about it. We hope to expand in the future but for now, this is where we're at.

Hope you understand and hope we'll be seeing you again in the near future.

February 2018 in Icy Network

Published by Diamond at Tue Feb 27 2018 23:22:26 GMT+0100 (Central European Standard Time)

Hello guys!

Thought I'd give you a little update on what's been happening with Icy Network in February.

IRC Network Deprecation

Starting next month, our IRC network will cease to exist. This is partly because I don't want to own an IRC network anymore and partly because nobody really uses it. The IRC had nearly constant 10-12 users connected, however only a small fraction of them actually talked. The small amount of users doesn't encourage me to keep the server running.

Some of our dearest friends who we built our IRC with have sadly migrated to more modern platforms and we're doing the same. If you're reading this and you've used the IRC before, thank you. We'll see around, I guess.

Episodes.Community Progress

I've just recently started working on Episodes.Community again and I've already done a few things with it.

Currently, I'm working on the community discussion boards.

Look out for more updates in the near future!

New Web Design!

Published by Diamond at Wed Feb 07 2018 18:13:41 GMT+0100 (Central European Standard Time)

As you can probably tell, our website now has a new design! There are still a couple of images missing, but they'll be coming later.

Our website now uses Bootstrap 4 to ensure us a nice clean layout.

Errors and reporting faults

Published by Diamond at Fri Jan 26 2018 22:57:45 GMT+0100 (Central European Standard Time)

We've noticed that some people are experiencing problems with the website but staying rather silent about it.

I'm here to encourage you to come forward and report any issues you see with the website to us immediately.

Here are a couple of ways you can do that:

Reporting your problem as soon as you run into one helps us help you and gives us pointers on what we need to fix. There is currently only one person working on the development of this network and everything won't work 100% of the time, especially when working for free. Please do not stay silent about your issues and help our websites become as stable as possible!

Oh, and another thing, try not to respond to our automated emails - we will not see them.

Thank you for your attention.

Icy Network and The Future

Published by Diamond at Sat Dec 30 2017 11:53:05 GMT+0100 (Central European Standard Time)

Hello, fellow members of the Icy Network Community! I guess we've never really introduced the whole concept of Icy Network to you before, but I'm doing it now!

Icy Network is a in development service, which will allow for multiple websites and communities share a single hub, a news outlet and most importantly - a single log-in service. Soon anyone can request access to the login service and join the Icy Network!

There is currently a website in the works that will take full advantage of and demonstrate the login centrality - Episodes.Community

Episodes.Community is a website, which allows people and fandoms to enjoy their favourite shows, as a community. You will be able to submit links to episodes, discuss episodes and watch them together with your friends, all in the same place! Unlike what you've previously seen, for example with mlp-episodes, this website will feature multiple shows instead of one and the fans are the ones providing the links.

The website does not have a release date yet, but it'll hopefully be in beta by the second half of 2018.

Icy Network Forum

The forum will be a central place for Icy Network users to discuss the websites and services and also provide suggestions.

Contributing to Icy Network

We are always looking for contributors who'd like to lend a hand in the development of our network, and you can do it either by contributing with code on our GitHub or by making a donation!

We hope you stick around and look forward to what we have to offer in the future, but for now, you can spend time on our Discord, Minecraft server or IRC Network!

We've launched our forum!

This news article is here to notify you about our new Forum which can be found at forum.icynet.eu!

This forum will be used for discussions about our services and for support.
